Calibration process

Before starting the calibration process, be sure to fully assemble the calibration kit and place the scanner on top of the clear plastic stand. In Artec Studio, navigate to File –> Run Diagnostic Tool.

A new window will open. In the top toolbar, select “Start Calibration”. A pop-up will prompt you to enter your calibration board serial number, which can be located in the top right corner of your calibration board.

After a brief warm-up period, the calibration process will begin. Follow the on-screen prompts which will guide you through all the positions shown on the calibration pattern. Once the process is complete, click the "Apply calibration" button.

Calibration files location

New calibrations are stored locally on your PC. In case you need to use the scanner on another machine, it is possible to copy the folder with the serial number of your Spider scanner from C:\Users\<User_Name>\AppData\Roaming\Artec\Artec Installation Center\Devices\ to the same location on another PC, or recalibrate scanner there again.

Cases with the lost item(s) of a calibration kit

If you lost one or several items of your calibration kit, or even the whole kit, contact our team at support@artec-group.com. However, there are two items that can be replaced at your side with the similar analogues:

1) A plastic scanner base

As a temporary solution, you can use any object of a similar height to place your 3D-scanner at. The scanner's base is 75mm high, the base for the board is 15mm high (the scanner is standing 60mm higher in space, in relation to the board).

Note that Spider scanner must be placed at a particular height during the calibration process; you won't be able to perform a successful calibration without following this requirement.

2) A paper with calibration pattern

Our team can provide PDF file to be printed at your side, so contact us.
